SUMMARY:SUBMARINER Sustainable Fisheries WG Meeting: Experiences from the RoundGoby test fishing
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, we’ll look back at RoundGoby test fishing rounds in spring and autumn 2024. \n\n\n\nHear from our participating fishers and scientists on what worked well and what could be improved for the next round in spring 2025. We’ll look at the data collected regarding what methods and gear worked the best and how much round goby was actually caught. Finally\, we’ll discuss what needs to change in terms of regulation and economic incentives for fishing to remain viable for small-scale coastal fishers in the future. \n\n\n\nSign up for the event to learn more about fishing round goby and other underutilised fish species and to discuss with different stakeholders what the future looks like for small-scale coastal fisheries in the Baltic Sea Region.  \n\n\n\nWould you like to present at the WG? Submit your idea here\, and we’ll contact you if there are any slots free!

SUMMARY:Joint Algae and Mussels Working Group: Data Availability and Uses
DESCRIPTION:Available data serves as the foundation for all innovation and is crucial for sustainable development. It provides insight into the realities we face and is essential for building accurate models and making informed decisions.  \n\n\n\nWhile it has been emphasized repeatedly that we need more data\, it’s equally important to improve our ability to share this data with others! Services like EMODnet assist organizations in this regard\, but data availability remains inconsistent (EU4Algae O1.17).  \n\n\n\nData accessibility is particularly vital when discussing ecosystems and biodiversity\, as these are complex systems that often involve outdated concepts representing various data states. How can we leverage available data to describe and comprehend trends in biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability\, and what specific data are we currently lacking?  \n\n\n\nJoin us for this collaborative session organized by the SUBMARINER Mussel and Algae Working Groups as we explore synergies and address common challenges.  \n\n\n\nWe look forward to your active participation! Please register\, and you will receive the Teams link via email.
