AWG Session topic:
The session will evolve around the topic “RAS and symbiosis”, as this is a hot topic that TETRAS will focus on. We will talk about how recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in combination with other processes improve their economic and environmental sustainability and increase resource use efficiency. For example, the use of geothermal resources for heating RAS, or the use of RAS discharge water for other industrial processes.
Let’s get to know good practice examples and discuss how we can improve aquaculture sustainability!

About the SUBMARINER Aquaculture Working Group
The Aquaculture Working Group (AWG) since 2021 is bringing together actors from the Baltic Sea Region and beyond, who are involved in promoting and developing solutions to the diverse challenges faced by this sector. The AWG members include researchers, companies, public authorities, technology providers, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and other actors. AWG sessions are organized online every two to three months, on occasions with defined topics, and they offer a valuable platform to exchange results from the various initiatives going on within this field.
From 2023, the TETRAS project (Interreg BSR 2023-2025) will operationalise the AWG. Other projects are invited to get involved too!
