SUBMARINER Network at the Wind Europe in Copenhagen
The SUBMARINER Network has presented its work on maritime spatial planning and ocean multi-use, at the Wind Europe conference. The conference which has brought together a large number of industry leaders and respected specialists, took place 26–28 November in Copenhagen.
The session, Preserving marine biodiversity, has gathered speakers and panelists from different fields including the NGO, industry and government agencies. Ivana Lukic, from SUBMARINER, presented multiple SUBMARINER projects, including the upcoming UNITED (multi-Use platforms and co-locatioN pilots boosting cost-effecTive, and Eco-friendly and sustainable production in marine environment) and thus inspired the following panel discussion about the concept of ocean multi-use. The pannel has concluded that for a wider support of the concept, both by the governments and the offshore wind industry, more pilots are need to showcase the actual benefits and inform about possible impacts. SUBMARINER will work to achieve this in the next three and a half years, by developing the rollout and exploitation strategy for the UNITED project pilots.
