Algae Initiative presented at the 1st physical EU4Algae Forum in Rome

Last November the Commission adopted the Communication ‘Towards a strong and sustainable EU algae sector', a pioneering initiative to unlock the potential of algae in the European Union. The Communication proposes 23 actions to create opportunities for the industry to help it grow into a robust, sustainable and regenerative sector capable of meeting the growing EU demand.

The so called Algae Initiate is an action plan to 2021-2030 and it includes 23 actions that aim to improve business environments, increase social awareness and acceptance of algae and algae-based products by consumers, and close the knowledge, research, and technology gaps.

The action plan was presented by DG MARE during the first physical EU4Algae Stakeholder Forum meeting on 12. December in Rome.

During the EU4Algae event, Efthalia Arvaniti was also present as part of the EU4Algae project team and gave an overview analysis of 70+ EU algae funded projects.
