This roadmap explores how EU fisheries policy can be better aligned with the European Union’s biodiversity objectives under the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. It examines existing legal and governance gaps, the limited effectiveness of marine protected areas, and challenges in implementing sustainable fisheries management. The roadmap offers recommendations to strengthen policy coherence, restore marine ecosystems, and ensure fisheries contribute to marine biodiversity protection.
