BlueActionMatch
Managed by the SUBMARINER Network, BlueActionMatch connects the people and ideas shaping the future of our oceans, seas, and waters. The community spans generations and professions, bringing together innovators, scientists, creatives, ocean advocates and public servants from across the blue. Members connect through one-to-one matchmaking, expert mentorship, collaborative groups, engaging events, and professional opportunities. Anchored in Europe, open to the world, and built for everyone committed to oceans and waters that sustain both life and livelihoods.

The SUBMARINER Secretariat coordinates several communities on BlueActionMatch covering the following areas:
BlueActionBANOS Community
The BlueActionBANOS (BAB) Community brings together organisations and individuals engaged in shaping, delivering, or supporting Community-Led Actions (CLAs) and Transition Agendas (TAs) in the Baltic and North Sea Regions in the framework of the BlueActionBANOS Project.
MPA Community Network
The MPA Community Network is an independent initiative that aims to bring together projects working for Marine Protected Areas in Europe and beyond, and serves as a central forum designed to:
- Foster dialogue,
- Enhance networking,
- Facilitate collaboration among MPA managers, local community stakeholders, and conservation experts across Europe’s diverse sea basins
- Act as a hub,
- Promote knowledge exchange, strengthen community ties, and support collaborative conservation efforts
- Publish relevant news and events
- Centralise in one place the relevant results, tools, best practices and outputs coming from participating projects
Sustainable Fisheries community
This group meets online twice a year to discuss challenges and opportunities for more sustainable fisheries management in the Baltic Sea. The community aims to connect a variety of Baltic Sea Region stakeholders to facilitate new ways of managing fisheries, present opportunities for coastal fisheries and discover new production processes and value chains.
Mussels Community
This group meets online every 3-4 months and is open to all users interested in mussel farming, processing, product development and marketing. Researchers, companies, public authorities, technology providers, NGOs, and entrepreneurs are welcome to join! We present project results, exchange ideas, and discuss barriers at our meetings.
Algae Community
The algae group meets online every 2-3 months to discuss barriers and drivers for the sustainable growth of the algae industry in the Baltic and North Sea region. The group provides a platform for open discussion and connects projects and partners to overcome the various issues faced by the algae sector. This group is open to actors of all sectors interested in algae!
Aquaculture Community
The Aquaculture group meets every 2-3 months online. The group brings together diverse actors from researchers to companies to public authorities to discuss barriers and drivers for the sustainable growth of aquaculture. The Aquaculture community connects projects and partners to overcome the various issues faced by the aquaculture sector in Europe.
Tidal Arts Ocean Art & Science Collective
This collective is a transdisciplinary group of creative practitioners, artists, researchers, NGOs, and community engagement specialists united by a shared passion for using creative practices to inspire ocean literacy and action.
Ocean Multi-Use Hub
The Ocean Multi-Use Hub is a central forum designed by ULTFARMS as a legacy tool to facilitate collaboration between Ocean Multi-Use projects, experts, and sectors working at the intersection of marine conservation and sustainable blue growth.
WaveMakers • Early Careers Exchange & Talent Hub
This forum is a vibrant community space where students and recent graduates can share experiences, discuss career opportunities, and articulate their professional needs within the blue bioeconomy sector.
Women in the Blue Economy
WIN-BIG, Women in blue economy Intelligence gathering and capacity boosting, is a European project funded by EMFAF through CINEA.
They map the gender status and capacity gaps across sea basins and blue sectors and develop tailored capacity-building tools to make the European blue industry more balanced, inclusive and sustainable.
