Definitions
Our privacy policy should be simple and understandable for everyone. For this reason, our privacy policy generally uses the official terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The official definitions are explained in Art. 4 GDPR.
Data processing by visiting our website
Once you visit our website, it is technically necessary that data is transmitted to our web server via your internet browser. The following data is recorded during an active connection for communication between your internet browser and our web server:
- Visited domain
- Date and time of the request
- Page from which the file was requested
- Access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.)
- Web browser and operating system used
- IP address of the requesting computer
- Transmitted amount of data
We collect this data to ensure a proper connection to the website and to enable a comfortable use of our website by the users. In addition, the log files serve to evaluate system security and stability as well as administrative purposes. The legal basis for the temporary storage of the data or the log files is Art. 6 para. 1 (f) GDPR.
For reasons of technical security, in particular to prevent attempts to attack our web server, we may temporarily store this data. It is not possible to draw conclusions about individual persons on the basis of this data. After 7 days at the latest, the data is made anonymous by shortening the IP address at domain level, so that it is no longer possible to establish a reference to the individual user. This data is not evaluated in anonymous form except for statistical purposes. This data is not combined with data from other data sources.
Cookies
Our website uses so-called “cookies”. Cookies are small text files that are either temporarily stored on your end device for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (permanent cookies). Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Permanent cookies remain stored on your terminal device until you delete them yourself or an automatic solution is provided by your web browser. Cookies have various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. the shopping basket function or language settings). Other cookies are used to evaluate user behaviour or display advertising.
The processing of data using strictly necessary cookies is based on a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 (a) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in storing cookies for the technically error-free and optimized delivery of our services. The processing of personal data using other cookies is based on consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 (a) GDPR. The consent can be revoked at any time for the future. The legal basis may also arise from Art. 6 para. 1 (b) GDPR if the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, or for the performance of precontractual measures taken at the request of the data subject.
Insofar as cookies are used for analysis purposes, we will inform you separately about this within the scope of this privacy notice and obtain your consent.
You can set your browser to
- be informed about the setting of cookies,
- only allow cookies in individual cases,
- exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or generally,
- activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed.
The cookie settings can be managed under the following links for each browser:
You can also manage cookies of many companies and functions used for advertising individually. To do so, use the appropriate user tools, available at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/yourad-choices.
Most browsers also offer a so-called “do-not-track function”. When this feature is enabled, the browser tells ad networks, websites, and applications that you do not want to be “tracked” for behavioural advertising and the like.
For information and instructions on how to edit this feature, please refer to the links below, depending on your browser provider:
Additionally, you can prevent the loading of so-called scripts by default. “NoScript” allows the execution of JavaScripts, Java and other plug-ins only at trusted domains of your choice. Information and instructions on how to edit this function can be obtained from the provider of your browser (e.g. for Mozilla Firefox at: https://addons.mozilla.org/enUS/firefox/addon/noscript/ )
Please note that if you disable cookies, the functionality of our website may be limited.

Newsletter
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on our website with regular information about our SUBMARINER’s activities, we need your email address as a mandatory information. We use the so-called double opt-in procedure for sending the newsletter. This means that we will not send you our newsletter by email until you have expressly confirmed that you agree to the dispatch of newsletters. When registering for the newsletter, in addition to the email address required for sending the newsletter, we store the IP address via which you have registered for the newsletter as well as the date and time of registration and confirmation so that we can trace any possible misuse at a later point in time. You can cancel the newsletter at any time via the link inserted in each newsletter or by sending an email to the above-mentioned responsible party. After your cancellation, your email address will be deleted from our newsletter distribution list immediately, unless you have explicitly consented to continued use of the data collected or continued processing is otherwise legally permissible.
We use MailChimp as our email marketing platform to manage and send our newsletters. You can learn more about MailChimp’s privacy practices by visiting their policy at: https://mailchimp.com/legal/

By submitting any form distributed through these channels, you agree to the processing of your personal data in accordance with this privacy policy. The data collected through these forms will be used solely for the purposes stated in the form and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent.
The legal basis for processing this data is our legitimate interest in fulfilling the purpose of the form (Art. 6 para. 1 (f) GDPR) or, where applicable, your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 (a) GDPR). Your data will be deleted after the purpose of the form has been fulfilled, provided there are no legal obligations requiring us to retain it longer. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, which will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Web analytics
Our website uses web analytics and tracking tools to analyze user behavior and improve our services. These tools collect data in a manner that is relevant under data protection laws. We ensure compliance by implementing necessary technical and organizational measures (TOM), such as IP anonymization and data processing agreements. Below is detailed information about the tools we use:

This website utilizes Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. The data generated by Google Analytics about your use of this website is typically transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA.
Data Processing and Scope:
Google Analytics collects data about your interactions with our website, including pages visited, time spent on pages, and other usage data. This information is used to compile reports and provide other services related to website activity and internet usage.
Purpose of Data Processing:
We use Google Analytics to understand how our website is used, enabling us to enhance the user experience and optimize our site and advertising efforts.
Legal Basis for Processing:
The use of Google Analytics is based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 (a) GDPR. Consent is obtained via our cookie consent banner when you first visit our site.
Legitimate Interests:
In cases where consent is not applicable, the processing is based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in optimizing our website and understanding user behavior to improve our services and marketing strategies.
Retention Period:

You can opt-out of Google Analytics by downloading and installing the browser add-on available at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
IP Anonymization:
We have activated the IP anonymization feature on this website. This ensures that within member states of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, your IP address is truncated before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of this website’s operator, Google uses this information to evaluate your website use, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services related to website and internet usage.
Consent Mode:
We have implemented Google Analytics’ Consent Mode via the Google Site Kit plugin. This mode allows us to adjust how Google’s tags behave based on the consent status of your users. Consent Mode helps us to respect users’ choices regarding the processing of their data while still gaining insights from Google Analytics. For more information on how Consent Mode operates, please visit: https://sitekit.withgoogle.com/documentation/using-site-kit/consent-mode/.
