Monaco Ocean Protection Challenge 2026 opens its call for applications

The Monaco Ocean Protection Challenge (MOPC) has opened applications for its 9th edition, continuing its role as an international platform supporting early-stage, ocean-positive innovation.

The MOPC is an international competition aimed at students, young innovators, and early-stage startups developing solutions for ocean protection. Coordinated by the Oceanographic Institute of the Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation, the initiative focuses on identifying promising ideas and supporting their development through guidance, visibility, and access to international networks.

Participants benefit from high-level exposure within Monaco’s leading ocean institutions, guidance from experts across science, innovation, impact investment, and the blue economy, and opportunities to connect with partners, investors, philanthropies, and global ocean networks.

All finalist teams are invited to Monaco for the Grand Finale, with travel and accommodation covered. The finalist experience itself is designed as a key part of the programme’s support, ensuring equal access and international visibility regardless of background or resources.

Application deadline: 13 February 2026
