Supporting the European Union’s mission to restore our ocean and waters
The EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” aims to protect and restore the health of our ocean and waters through research and innovation, citizen engagement and blue investments by 2030. The Mission addresses the ocean and inland water ways as one and aims to play a key role in achieving climate neutrality and restoring biodiversity and natural habitats in European waters.The Mission framework divides the EU water basins into four lighthouse areas to shine light on a plethora of issues and solutions for our inland water ways and oceans.
Blue Mission BANOS is the leading authority for the Baltic and North Sea, coordinating Mission Ocean’s actions in the region. The regional focus of the initiative lies in the circular-economy and achieving carbon neutrality in the blue economy. The project aims to facilitate the development of a sustainable, carbon-neutral, and circular blue economy in the Baltic and North Sea by connecting national, regional, and transnational actors from policy, industry, science and the public, creating a conducive governance model to innovation. Blue Mission BANOS is made up of 17 partner organisation’s from the Baltic and North Sea room and is funded by Horizon Europe.
Blue Mission BANOS is a consortium of 16 project partners, including SUBMARINER Network’s members.
