CrossGov Project Wraps Up: Three Years of Advancing Coherent Marine Governance

From climate targets to marine restoration, European Union policies often intersect, overlap, or even contradict one another. CrossGov set out to understand how Europe can make marine governance more coherent, cross-compliant, and effective.

Working from the Oslofjord to the French Mediterranean, the consortium united scientists, policymakers, and governance experts to map where marine and water policies align and where they fragment. The project’s findings contribute to the knowledge base for the upcoming Ocean Pact, offering pathways toward more integrated governance that bridges silos across EU directives such as the MSFD, CFP, WFD, and MSPD.
