The meeting brought together Steering Committee members and colleagues from across Europe to align on shared ambitions and priorities for the coming years.
Discussions centred on defining the strategic agenda of EIT Water and developing three core roadmaps on education, innovation, and business creation, to be finalised by summer 2026. The exchange highlighted the importance of coordinated action, long-term vision, and strong collaboration across regions.
As a partner in EIT Water, the SUBMARINER Network contributes to these efforts through its role as a Co-Location Centre responsible for Germany, Poland, and the Baltic States. This role complements SUBMARINER’s ongoing work in EU-aligned initiatives such as Mission Ocean and Waters, EU4Algae, the Circular Bio-based Europe framework, and the MPA Community, where cross-sector cooperation and system-level thinking are central.
The Aarhus meeting marked an important step in clarifying roles, strengthening alignment, and setting the direction for building a resilient, competitive, and sustainable European water sector. The progress created over these two days provides a strong foundation for the next phase of EIT Water’s development and for continued collaboration across Europe’s water innovation ecosystem.
