Each month, we spotlight a different member of our team, diving into their motivations, passions, projects they’re currently working on, and more!
Our next Q&A feature is on Konstantinos Madias, a Communications Manager at SUBMARINER from Greece. Konstantinos came to SUBMARINER with a PhD in Economics, focusing on consumer behaviour and sustainability.
What attracted you to working with SUBMARINER?
What initially attracted me was the organisation’s focus on sustainability. Then, after meeting the team during the interview process, I felt sure that this was a place I wanted to be part of. Berlin had also been on my radar for a while.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I really enjoy working with the team and am amazed by how multidimensional this job is. It’s never monotonous and constantly challenges me to grow and think in new ways. My role is to spread the word about SUBMARINER’s work in various projects, connect people, and contribute to building a strong, engaged community around blue bioeconomy.
What are some professional accomplishments you are most proud of?
My PhD was a major milestone, but I’m also very proud to be working in the sustainability field—something I’ve always wanted both professionally and personally.
What is inspiring you lately?
I was really inspired by our team trip to Norway with the BlueBioClusters partners. It was energising to see so many blue innovations in action and meet the people behind them.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve heard?
That’s a tough one—but maybe just: be present. Simple, but powerful.
Where is your favourite place to travel?
I love Greek summers—they always feel like a reset. But I also really enjoy wandering around cities like Paris or Copenhagen.
