Welcoming BonoLab as Associate Member of the SUBMARINER Network

The transition towards a sustainable blue economy requires more than technological innovation. It depends on informed communities, systems thinking and the ability to translate complex environmental challenges into practical learning and action.

We are pleased to welcome BonoLab as a new Associate Member of the SUBMARINER Network.

Based in Denmark, BonoLab develops open and accessible educational materials in close cooperation with researchers, industry actors and civil society. Their work focuses on sustainability and STEAM education, with the objective of equipping educators and learners to better understand environmental systems, resource management and real-world problem solving.

This perspective complements SUBMARINER’s mission to strengthen sustainable blue growth in the Baltic Sea Region. While many of our members advance innovation in aquaculture, bioeconomy solutions and marine governance, education plays a critical enabling role:

  • Building long-term ocean literacy
  • Supporting future skills for the blue economy
  • Strengthening societal understanding of restoration and circular resource use

By connecting sustainability education with practical examples from marine innovation and regional cooperation, BonoLab adds an important dimension to the Network’s ecosystem.

We look forward to exploring how educational tools and blue economy practice can reinforce one another, particularly in areas linked to youth engagement, skills development and awareness raising in the Baltic Sea Region.

Welcoming actors who strengthen the link between knowledge, innovation and society is essential for delivering on our shared ambition: a resilient Baltic Sea supported by informed and active communities.
