Where Waters Meet Berlin takes place on Thursday 3 December 2026 at Impact Hub Berlin, from 9:00 to 15:30. Europe’s water challenges do not stop where rivers meet the sea, and the communities working on them should not either. Where Waters Meet brings together a selected group of representatives from public authorities, research institutions, industry, utilities, investors and start-ups in Germany and the Baltic Sea Region. Together they will explore closer cooperation and new joint initiatives, especially under the programmes EIT Water will launch from 2027.
What will be discussed?
The day covers water resilience and weather extremes, water quality and ecosystem restoration, circularity and reuse, marine and port innovation, digitalisation, skills and finance. The focus is on conversation and cooperation rather than presentations, with the goal of identifying shared interests and shaping concrete projects. The programme will be shared with registered participants.
Why now, and why Berlin?
The EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030” has created strong momentum for ecosystem restoration, pollution reduction and a circular blue economy. SUBMARINER coordinates the Mission’s Baltic and North Sea Lighthouse, so we work every day on turning its goals into action across the region, from coordination between countries to local projects such as the 19 now funded through BlueActionBANOS. EIT Water, Europe’s new Knowledge and Innovation Community for the water, marine and maritime sectors, is opening new ways to connect research, innovation, education and business creation. Where Waters Meet is a chance to build synergies between the two. Berlin brings the German water and innovation community together with partners from Poland, the Baltic States and the Nordic countries, and the event takes place alongside the SUBMARINER Members Assembly.
