New Commission Proposed Actions to Support Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing

These targeted actions, proposed by the Commission aim to boost biotechnology and biomanufacturing in the EU

For the work of SUBMARINER, these proposed actions are a very promising step forward, as they have potential to transform many aspects of blue biotechnology creation and implementation. In particular, these actions may enable significant strides forward on algae and mussel product developments in a variety of sectors including food, feed, cosmetics, and nutraceutricals.

According to the Commission’s press release, “biotechnology and biomanufacturing [are] one of the most promising technological areas of this century.
